Tata motors was initiated in Lagos in 2016 to oversee the company’s businesses in West Africa with net worth spanning over $10 million USD. It is under a parent company known as TATA Africa Holdings (SA) (Pty) Limited which is traceable to its Indian roots and founder, Jamsetji Tata.
The multinational enterprise has a regional sales, spare parts and after sales services facility (Tata Africa Services (Nigeria) Limited) located at its head office at Amuwo Odofin in Lagos with Simba motors running its operations in Northern Nigeria so as to lower the cost of production and make the price of each vehicle worth it.
The Tata fleet on Nigerian roads include passenger vehicles, light commercial cars, medium commercial buses, heavy vehicles, material handling equipments(forklift trucks, stackers, tire handlers etc), heavy equipments (excavators, back-hoes, graders and cranes etc), tires, construction equipment (concrete mixers etc), steel and chemicals.
Tata International in Nigeria also markets and distributes not just its automobile products alone, but also that of other partners like the South Korean Daewoo Commercial vehicles and Indian Force Motors Limited.
